MERCEDES-BENZ INDIA HAS LAUNCHED GL-GRAND EDITION

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the GL-Class ‘Grand Edition’, further re-iterating its position of offering the widest product portfolio for the Indian luxury car market. The GL Class is one of the biggest luxury SUVs in its segment and the launch of the ‘Grand Edition’ further strengthens the company’s presence in the increasingly popular SUV segment in India.

Speaking on the launch of the vehicle Debashis Mitra, Director, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India said, “India has burgeoning potential in terms of demand for SUVs. The superior connectivity and improved road conditions are fuelling this growth. Mercedes-Benz is an aspirational brand and GL-Class has received very encouraging response from the customers since its launch in India. The GL ‘Grand Edition’ has been aggressively priced for the Indian market and like its success in other markets; the introduction of the vehicle will further strengthen our dominance in the luxury Large SUV segment. The GL ‘Grand Edition’ with its proven off-roading prowess and luxurious interiors is ideal to suit the taste of the growing number of off-roading aficionados in India”.

The distinctive, new GL- Class Grand Edition’s level of spaciousness and comfort is at par with that of a luxury saloon. Features reserved exclusively for the ‘Grand Edition’ includes unique light-alloy wheels with 50.8 cm (20-inch) tyres, in Himalayan grey metallic with a high-sheen finish, append to the vehicle’s exclusivity. The rich quality, new design two-tone leather seats in the color combinations black / porcelain and black / maroon leather upholstery with individual fluting pattern and contrasting topstitching, is exclusive to the Grand Edition.

The exclusive front end design of the ‘Grand Edition’ is unique, the dark-tinted headlamps, a radiator grille with black, high-sheen louvres and a redesigned front bumper with integrated LED daytime running lamps define this special edition. There are other visual highlights too, such as metallic paint finishes, heat-insulating and infrared-reflecting laminated glass all round, aluminium-look running boards with rubber studs, and divided exhaust tailpipe trim. The ‘Grand Edition’ accommodates up to seven people with exceptional level of spaciousness. The comfort headrests for the driver and front passenger, ambient lighting, roof liner in black designo fabric, velour floor mats with contrasting stitching and ‘Grand Edition’ lettering, ‘Grand Edition’ badge on the centre console, adds to the allure of the vehicle.

The GL-Class Grand Edition packs convenient features like easy-pack tailgate and extremely practical electronically folding third row seat that ensures convenience for its occupants. Although the GL’s size is intimidating, parking it is one of the easiest tasks, as it comes equipped with Parktronic and Comand APS system with a reversing camera that help manoeuvre the car easily in tight parking spaces. The Thermotronic luxury automatic climate control helps maintain different temperatures for the driver, front and rear passengers giving each their own comfort zone.

The commanding GL-Class ‘Grand Edition’ offers remarkable handling and assures for an excellent ride comfort coupled with the most important safety features which is synonymous with Mercedes-Benz. With innovative 4matic all-wheel drive, Airmatic air suspension, Direct-Steer system and the Adaptive Damping System ADS, which also comes as standard adds to the already feature packed car. While the GL cuts an imposing figure on the asphalt, it also has legitimate off-road credentials. The modified Airmatic air suspension enables great ground clearance. For the challenging terrains the dynamic handling control systems such as Off-Road ABS, Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) and Hill-Start Assist also make life easier for the GL-Class driver.

The GL ‘Grand Edition’ will be available in two variants Executive and Luxury. While the Executive will be priced at INR 60, 99,000 (ex-showroom), the Luxury variant will be priced at INR 65, 50,000(ex-showroom).

Automakers need halo cars. They bring people into the showroom and demonstrate just what their engineers can do. Typically those range-topping vehicles come in the form of sports cars – think Audi R8, Dodge Viper, Lexus LFA et al – but Mercedes-Benz is reportedly taking another direction. That's because these exotic supercars tend to sell in small numbers (almost by definition), while – for Mercedes-Benz – mid-size luxury sedans like the E-Class sell in much bigger numbers. As such, the Silver Star automaker is planning on making its next halo car a four-door sedan (of sorts).

A couple months ago, we brought you initial word of Daimler's plans to make a super-lightweight, carbon-fiber E-Class, and now further details have found their way into the bloggosphere. Dubbed the E Superlight, the sedan is tipped to share its footprint with the E-Class, its size with the CLS and its price with the S-Class. For that, buyers would get a state-of-the-art sedan made from carbon fiber sitting at the very cutting edge of what Stuttgart's finest are capable of achieving.

That's right, the E Superlight isn't a mere concept car: reports from overseas indicate that Daimler is actually planning on building it, with production earmarked to begin in 2015 and to come fully online by 2017. A hydrogen fuel cell is expected to provide the motivation at least in the beginning, but more conventional powertrains are also said to be in the mix. Once it's made its point, Mercedes can lift the halo back where it usually sits, atop the replacement for the current SLS AMG supercar.

Mercedes-Benz is rumoured to be working on an ultra-lightweight spin-off of its E-Class sedan, reportedly dubbed E Superlight, which will be ready for a production debut in 2015.

Expected to launch internationally in late 2015, the four-door E Superlight will take its styling cues from the F800 and F-125 concept cars, and may feature rear suicide doors and a B-pillarless design.

Carbon-fibre will feature prominently in its construction. Mercedes-Benz is apparently aiming for a kerb weight of just under 1300kg - around 350kg lighter than the current E-Class sedan.

The E Superlight's all-carbon chassis will also give it tremendous rigidity, meaning previously impractical features like pillarless rooflines and gullwing doors may also become a production reality.

A 125kW hydrogen fuel cell and 37kW electric powertrain are expected to be offered in the production E Superlight , however more traditional petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains may also see service in the featherweight Benz.

Full technical details have yet to be officially announced though, and with the car's proposed launch date so far away don't expect any definitive stats to surface anytime soon.

Mercedes-Benz's aspirations for the E Superlight are reportedly quite modest, with only 20,000 sales targeted for the first full year of production - a fraction of current global E-Class volume.

The classic Mercedes-Benz G-Class or as some call it, the G-Wagen which is short for Geländewagen (all-terrain wagon in German), is one of the most capable off-roaders money can buy these days but it's also one of the longest-standing models in the auto industry having been originally launched in 1979.

The Bulgarian interior specialists from Vilner revealed today their aftermarket program for the elegant Mercedes G-Class. For demonstration purposes, the chose as the base vehicle the high-performance AMG version of the G Class, with its side exhaust pipes. At the exterior, Vilner's G-Class is pretty much a standard vehicle , however, its interior has been completely re-designed. It features a full leather upholstery, with various embossed elements scatered along the door panels and roofliner  and Alcantara styling accents. Vilner used the same leather to pretty much every plastic surface, including the rear-view mirror and the seat belts. The Vilner Mercedes G-Class also comes with a range of chromed trim parts, and other design details.

For entertrainment purposes, Vilner's Mercedes G-Class is fitted with a "Ground Zero" sound system. Vilner did not disclose the price you'll have to pay to get these interior upgrades.

The tuning house has completely revamped the G-Class' interior with high quality materials such as leather etc .........that have been applied everywhere. And by everywhere we do mean everywhere as even the driver's mirror has been trimmed in beige Alcantara.

A new Ground Zero sound system along with a fresh set of alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights round off the tune.

MAYBACH IS GOING TO DIE......

Daimler will provide its 2013 luxury brand Maybach. Reason: The Mercedes brand is to be with the new S-Class luxury segment even more successful.

Daimler makes 2013 a production of the Maybach models. A successor is operating under the brand name MAYBACH not give. The background is the belief that Mercedes under its own brand name in the upper class can still be successful. The targeted for 2013 new S-Class will therefore give it in an extra-long Pullman version as well as a luxury coupe and a convertible. The new Mercedes luxury class will have many new security systems from the experimental vehicle ESF 2009 and shine including new augmented-reality displays.

MAYBACH DIES FOR THE SECOND TIMES

Maybach was revived as a historic mark (1921 to 1941) in 2002 from Daimler. In the upper price segment they should against (BMW) ROLLS-ROYCE and BENTLEY establish (Volkswagen). In 2009, Germany's 31 new MAYBACH sold in 2010 it had fallen to 23rd Worldwide new registrations stagnated at around 200 units per year. At the IAA 2011, the public waited in vain for the presentation of a new generation Maybach, instead there was the unique "Edition 125!" shown on the basis of the current series.

NEW S- CLASS ON 2012 ATGENEVA MOTOR SHOW ?

Is MERCEDES – BENZ going to launch new S – class on 2012 GENEVA MOTOR SHOW ? , The new S-Class is expected to debut an autonomous driving feature that will allow a driver to let go of the controls during heavy traffic. Relying on a series of camera and radar based monitoring systems, the new S-Class should be able to follow a traffic queue at speeds of up to 25 mph, it means that it should even be able to navigate curves in the road.

MERCEDES saying this system “allows the driver to concentrate on other things” in traffic & it too help full for drivers.

And the other main important interesting safety feature is said to be a new airbag system that deploys under the front axle to help further slow the car during emergency braking situations.

The exterior & interior of new S- class is totally radical different from current S- class.

The engine they going may going to offer , the current S550 and S600 designations, but with new engines designed to be much more fuel efficient. A new nine-speed automatic may also debut with the 2013 S-Class.
And that the S400 Hybrid may switch to a diesel-electric setup rather than the current gasoline-electric one, however, we’ll have to wait until closer to the car’s debut to confirm the claims.
